We are ABLE UK – one of the country's leading port operators and developers.

ABLE UK has a track record of spotting opportunities. In the late 90’s, as part of the companies investment planning process we soon identified the South Humber Bank as being an area of outstanding economic potential. We then commenced a land acquisition process that has today culminated in our owning a significant proportion of land with river frontage at this key strategic location.

Our wider Able Humber Port project will release the full economic potential of the South Humber Bank, bringing resounding financial and social economic benefits to the regions businesses and its people.

Able Humber Port consists of two main zones:

• Able Marine Energy Park (AMEP)
• Able Logistics Park (ALP)

Able Marine Energy Park (AMEP) will be a multi-user operational port dedicated to the needs of the renewable energy sector and, crucially, it has been designed in conjunction with the industry to the sectors own (and exacting) specifications.

This concept revolutionises the UK Ports Industry, provides the modern infrastructure the sector requires and furthermore offers a truly transparent operating model that really does mean the UK is truly ‘open for business.’

The necessity to tackle climate change coupled with the demand for a stronger and more sustainable energy mix requires the renewables industry to overcome a variety of engineering and operational challenges. We have worked with the offshore wind industry to design a facility that provides the infrastructure to do this and furthermore a business mentality that is allied to helping them to execute new solutions.

The challenges associated with the industrialisation and deployments of this technology are largely due to the size of the turbines:

This is no time for faint hearts – this is indeed a brave new world and one in which Able is committed to playing a full part. AMEP can facilitate a truly integrated offshore wind cluster allowing full economies of scale for the industrialisation of the offshore wind industry. The sheer size of AMEP combined with its effective location present the industry with the best opportunities for cost reduction and to secure offshore winds future contribution to the overall energy mix.
